What "BigKina app download" really means

BigKina is a pokies app for Papua New Guinea, but it does not come from Google Play, the App Store or an APK file. Download BigKina on Android in four taps

Open Chrome and go to www.bigkina.com. The BigKina start screen loads with the chip logo and a PLAY button.
Tap PLAY. The lobby opens sideways; turn your phone to landscape if it has not rotated by itself.
Log in or join. After your first log in the app shows an INSTALL BIGKINA card. Tap it, then tap Install on the Chrome prompt. If you closed the card, open MENU and tap INSTALL APP.
Find the BigKina icon on your home screen or in your app list, and open BigKina from there from now on.

If Chrome never shows an install prompt, use its own menu: tap the three dots at the top right, then Add to Home screen (older Chrome) or Install app (newer Chrome). Both put the same BigKina icon on your phone.

Samsung Internet, Opera and other Android browsers can usually add BigKina to the home screen from their own menus too, but Chrome gives the smoothest full-screen result, so use Chrome if you have it.

Download BigKina on iPhone

Open Safari (it must be Safari: on iPhone only Safari can add an app to the home screen) and go to www.bigkina.com.
Tap the Share button at the bottom of the screen, the square with an arrow pointing up.
Scroll the list down and tap Add to Home Screen.
Tap Add at the top right. The BigKina chip icon appears on your home screen.

Opening BigKina from that icon gives you the full-screen app with no Safari bar. Turn the phone sideways: the lobby is landscape only. If it stays upright, swipe down from the top right corner and make sure the rotation lock is off.

The app also asks once whether it may send you notifications. Say yes if you want to know when a deposit is credited or a reward is ready; say not now and it will not ask again for a week.

Why there is no APK

Many PNG players are used to pokies apps that arrive as an APK file from an agent. BigKina chose the browser route on purpose, and the reasons matter for your safety and your data bundle.

How much data does BigKina use?

The lobby itself is small: tiles, buttons and sounds are cached after the first open, so coming back costs very little. Games are different.
